I was contacted to do a maternity shoot, a couple months back, by a woman who had been referred to me by a fellow photographer who just wasn’t available at the time for it… I agreed immediately without knowing at all what the woman or her husband looked like. We exchanged a few text messages and set up a date, they would pick me up to go to the beach a few weeks later. How fun, a beach maternity shoot!

She sent me a few ideas she had about what she wanted the photos to look like, she wanted some in black and white, to make it look classy and timeless… but not necessarily all of them…

The day of the shoot we met early in the morning to catch the beach before anyone else would…. it was cloudy, which is perfect for photos… although the sun came up a bit later during the photoshoot, we got the best of the cloudy weather! Dasha was very fun, and willing to get in the water to get the best photos possible. Her and her husband seemed to be a fun, loving and outgoing couple, so the photos were pretty easy to take… ready, set, go! They pretty much didn’t have to act much, everything was natural. They seem very in love and very excited to welcome their first baby girl…

I’d say that most of the photos look great in black and white, but they don’t all need to be. i kept a lot of them in color and i have to say that i love both treatments. Here are some of the beautiful photos taken that day, you can let me know which one you prefer and if you like the ones in color or in black and white the most…

I met a few times with Gigi to figure out what type of photos she wanted… she is a wonderful singer and needs photos to promote herself as well as to feel good about herself, because… why not… to quote Tyra Banks, if you have it, flaunt it… We came up with a bunch of different ideas, but also we got caught up with life and laughters in this crazy city… so we ended up deciding to meet up at my place and improvise there with what we both have.

The boudoir session was definitely one of the ideas discussed, but it wasn’t sure until she got to the place. we ended up taking a bunch of photos using different lighting techniques, or natural lights. She is fun to work with, and has a beautiful confidence that radiates through the poses, through the photos. She had brought a bunch of different outfits, but we had so much fun with this outfit we decided on keeping the other outfits for another day… so there will be more!

Newborn sessions are always fun for me, I love babies and children! When Rebecca asked me to take photos of her newborn Sarah, I jumped at the occasion of course.

I went to their house and after inspecting the location for the perfect spot for photos… I discovered the trampoline in the back yard… needless to say that was the perfect place to take photos comfortably.. and no, I promise, I didn’t make the baby jump!

Beautiful natural light, although we had to move around a lot following the shade made by the huge tree above us, as it is never comfortable for anyone to take photos directly in the sun… and as much as I can do it because I don’t have to be in front of the camera, for the subject of my photos, I’d rather not have them squint their eyes, get any unflattering shadows or simply sweat.
